Who
qualifies and disqualifies
you?
Who tells you
who you are
and
who you are not?
Who decides
what you can do
and
what you cannot do?
*
Past week,
I was surrounded by
you-can't-do-it
speeches, conversations and messages.
These are made up of
words
that tries to
rob your confidence,
discourage
and
disconcert
you.
They are the buckets of cold water
that are flung over your head
by people.
I'm no longer surprised
from whose mouths
these could pour from.
They could be from
anybody,
even yourself.
These words rained
on me for awhile
but
I didn't
let it
to drench me out,
I didn't
allow it
to quench my faith and hope.
It was wet.
Uncomfortable.
Frustrating.
But
I know
there's something I can do about it
and
I did.
I peeled away
the sticky stuff
and
kicked them in the bin.
I wrung my soul
dry from the
heaviness
it brought down on me.
I scrub the muck off
and
make myself clean.
You can't predict
when will
people rain on you.
But
you can decide
whether it has the power to
stop you from
doing
what you can do,
giving
what you can give,
and
being
who you can be.
We can't help our ears
from
hearing
the words that rain on us
but
we can help
ourselves what and who we
listen to.
Pop the brolly
over your head.
It could pelt down on you
whenever it wishes
but
they could only
bounce off
you.
It won't have its way,
it won't drench you
if
you don't surrender to it.
You can hear the
cruelest words
cruelest words
but
You can choose
not to submit and obey
not to submit and obey
them.
Why should
you?
you?
Why does it deserve your
attention and obedience?
*
Only the person
who qualifies me
is the person
who is able to
disqualify me;
is the person
I ALLOW
to
disqualify,
validate
and define
me.
me.
