Younger Days.

Mum dug these photographs out from the storeroom.

This is my doll, Zara,
which I couldn't live without.
I yakked day and night with her.
As you can see, although I adored her,
I ruined her hair.

I look like a white cabbage here.

I was trying to distract Uncle Jack.
I know this' new, but I was really into
roleplay and acting.

I was lugged about in a basket.
Thinking bout it, mum's pretty vintage huh.

This is absolutely unglamorous.
But it is a big statement about
how Valerie is not all the time
prim and proper.

This tells me why I'm still paying the price
of the scars on my body -
I hardly walked.
I skipped, dashed, hopped, and everything
a restless child would do.

I think I have supersonic memory.
I still remember the girl on my left
was my bestfriend.
Her name's Karen.

My teenage-days study table.
Focus is tough
without some style and art among the textbooks.

A fuzzy glimpse of the awful tomboy I was.
Germaine and Ayuni were my best companions in St. Anthony's.

Vanessa Emily Quek, my BFF in St. Margaret's Primary.
We could sing songs from Les Miserables
for hours over the phone.

Where're your eyebrows, Valerie Teo Yuan Shan?

Grin.
You have a good Tuesday.
