Excelsior.

I really like what Liz shared with me today.

She said Yah Lan spoke about
The difference between
The Perfectionist and
The Excellent persons.

The Perfectionist cannot handle mistakes.
The Excellent can -
He makes every mistake an opportunity to become better.

The Perfectionist is driven by fear.
The Excellent is driven by enthusiasm.

And may I add,
Since the Excellent is not driven by fear
He is driven by faith and optimism.
And faith produces joy -
He is happy, because

The Excellent knows the art of having
Contentment today and
Expectancy for tomorrow.

Many think
Being a perfectionist is virtuous -
Cos the perfectionist seems more intelligent.
But really,
It's exhausting and depressing to be one -
Cos it's never possible to be perfect.

I do not advocate the idea of giving up trying to be a better person altogether.
Yes, it is not possible to be perfect,
But it is possible
To be better than yesterday.

A step at a time.
A hurdle a season.

The Perfectionist builds walls
Around themselves -
Thinking they'll be safe if they
Imagine the worst and believe it'll happen.

The Excellent breaks down walls
That're built to hinder them.

Today,
Stop for awhile,
Turn around,
And see how far you've come.
Be grateful for those who've walked with you.
Cherish those who've been running beside you.

And jog on
Towards a better tomorrow.

'Not that I speak in regard to need,
For I have learned that
Whatever state I am,
To be content.

I know how to be absed, and
I know how to abound.

Everywhere and in all things,
I have learned both to be

Full and to be hungry,
Both to abound and to suffer need.'

Apostle Paul
