Life'd be boring
If we live it the
'Let nature take its course' way.
To me,
Life'd be meaningless and terrifying.
It's pathetic watching yourself slide down
The cruel slope of fate, isn't it?
Can we actually control it?
If we can,
What must we do?
Let me give you an illustration:
J.P Moreland, a noted philosopher who wrote
Christianity and the Nature of Science illustrated
The law of Gravity,
''Which says that if you drop an object,
It will fall to the earth.
But, if an apple falls from a tree
And you reach out to catch it
Before it hits the ground,
You're not violating or negating the law of gravity;
You're merely interveneing.''
Dr. William Lane Craig who wrote extensively on such topics commented,
''The law of gravity states that will happen under idealized conditions
With no natural or supernatural factors intervening.
Catching the apple doesn't overturn the law of gravity
Or require the formulation of a new law.
It's merely the intervention of a person with free will
Who overrides the natural causes operative in that particular cirucmstance.
And that, essentially,
Is what God does when He causes a miracle to occur.''
This is awesome.
We can turn things around,
If we intervene with the partnership of His help.
We don't have to freak out and drown in our anxieties.
Of course,
The natural circumstances are visible and tangible.
But if we have faith in what is invisible and intangible that
We reach out into it,
Negotiate and discuss with the Person who runs this realm,
He will turn it around.
Now,
There are certainly limitations and conditions to do that.
The most important factor lies on our side -
We need to do what we can,
While we seek help for what we can't do.
For example,
When the apple falls from the tree,
And you see it dropping nearer and nearer to your head,
You gotta reach your hand up to catch it,
Not close your eyes and scream,
'God, stop that apple from falling!'
You can't ask for a breakthrough in your relationship with people,
If all you do is sit and wait for your friends to ask you out.
Yes,
You'd be a little jittery at first,
But you know you don't only have yourself
To depend on now.
You have the Greatest Backup anyone can ask for.
