Smiling Back At You.

She is the hottest Grandma I know.

'Cos of mama, I grew up speaking fluent Hokkien(Hahaha, I know I know)

Her name is beautiful as she is -
Ling Xiang Lai;

Which means the coming of fragrance.

I am very sure I inherited the shopping-craze-DNA from Mama.
We never go home empty-handed.
And we avoid humid coffeeshops as much as I can whine away from there -
That's why I am called 'Spoiltbrat' at school.

Mama and my favourite haunts were
Centrepoint -
We'll have Cantonese Wanton Noodle and
Hit the supermarket for a mad purchase.

China Town -
Tong Kee Egg Tarts,
Black Sesame Paste
Eu Tong Seng (there was a huuuuuge snake caged up in the medical hall.

Tanjong Pagar Plaza-
Hairwash at the salon

Daimaru (My favourite place - known as Clarke Quay's Meidiya now
We'll heap Japanese jellies, chocolates and biscuits to the brim of our supermarket trolley

Yaohan (known as Plaza Singapura now)
Japanese Kids' Bento Lunch
Hello Kitty Miscellaneous Shopping

And everywhere we go,
Mama only wants to take the Taxi.
She hated to be apart from me.
So she'd send me to school,
And wait for me at the canteen till I'm dismissed.

And then,
We'll embark on our daily leisure adventure.

After Sunday school,
(Oh check out my hip blue bible bag)
I'd hold Mama's hand.
That familiar smell of Mama,
I will never ever forget.

Thank God
I can meet you again.

Smiling back at you,
Shan Shan.
