Life Skill: Connect

Life
becomes a torture
when
you
go against
its nature.

Life
is
'Fresh'
[Greek]

and
a human being
who is
disconnected
from
its fellow species

is like a
dry, stale
tree

without
roots
and
leaves.

Without roots,
it doesn't
draw water
from the ground.
It is
dehydrated
and
dreadfully thirsty.

Without roots,
it
pulls away
from
reaching out to people.
It refuses to
contact
or
open up
to others.

A dry soul
is
easily
irritable,
scratchy
and
gruff.

The slightest brush
with people
provokes
him
easily.

He has
difficulty
receiving
love, kindness and care
from others -

even when
he knows
he needs these.

He wants to,
but
doesn't know how.

Without leaves,
it doesn't
draw light
into itself.

With no light in him,
his soul
is
cold.

With
 no warmth,
in him
he is usually
lethargic;
energy
is
scarce.

He tends to be
unwilling
when opportunities come.

In life,
he doesn't walk forward
but
steps back
from
activities.

Anything that is
cold
hides away
and
hardly moves.

This tree
simply cannot
receive.

Weak,
deprived
and
fruitless,
it continues
to
wither and decompose
day by day.

It
gets
nothing
from
its
environment.

It
 gives
 nothing
to
its
environment.

Have you felt
this way before?

Have you noticed
people going through this?

Connection
with people
is more than
standing amongst a crowd.

Connection
involves
a
receiving and giving
process.

There is an
exchange.

For this case,
giving
 means
sharing.

When we go through life,
we experience
a variety of feelings
in different situations.

It is
very unhealthy
to
suppress feelings,
especially when
they are
'toxic' -
eg. anger, disappointments, frustration, stress etc.

Overtime,
suppressed feelings
becomes a
smelly swamp
of
poisonous attitudes
that could
contaminate your joy
of living.

A healthy physical body
regularly expels
waste.

But when it is
constipated,
it goes haywire!
You'll be
bloated and uncomfortable
with gross gas
and
a load of disgusting stuff.
Yes,
YUCK!

Similarly,
to have
a healthy soul,
you
should also
regularly expel its
waste
in your
mind
and
heart [emotions]

otherwise,
you'll go haywire
even if
you've got a really healthy body.

It is not true
that bad feelings would
'go away'
when you
ignore or suppress.
Anything toxic
only worsens.

Let me show you how:

*

Sadness
suppressed
breeds
Depression.

Anger
suppressed
multiplies into
Aggression.

Worry
suppressed
grows into
Anxiety.

Fear
suppressed
births
Phobia.

Pain
suppressed
leads to
Bondage.

These are just
basic examples.
The longer you suppress
toxic emotions,
the more
poisonous and messy
your soul will be
and
the sooner
you spiral towards
an ugly breakdown -
this is when
the unhealthy emotions are multiplied to a degree
that
exceeds your capacity
[more than you can take]
and
explodes
into the physical [your body].

When emotions
override logic,

we react illogically;

we might do things
we wouldn't want to do.

That is why
people are capable of
doing crazy things
to themselves or people around them.

Is there any particular
expired emotion
you're still
keeping in you?

If it's been
torturing you,
it's high time to
seek for a reliable friend
and
release
it from your life.

Release
by
telling
that friend about it.

Even if you don't feel like it,
do yourself a favour;
do what you need -
tell.

Cry,
if you need.

Scream,
write
or
email somebody who you
can trust.

Then,
after releasing the toxic,

allow yourself to
open up
and
receive
the
love, encouragement and comfort
that'll
heal, nourish and strengthen
your soul.

Breathing, drinking, eating and sleeping
are
survival skills.
But
joy doesn't come
from survival.

Joy
comes from
Living.

Life skills
such as this
is as critical
for your
total well being.

Make it a habit
to
connect with people.

[If you need,
you may write to me.
It'll be strictly
private and confidential.]
