Everyone
just
wants to
belong
to
somebody.
Today,
a young man asked me,
with an overwhelming curiosity
and fear in his eyes,
'Am I part of this
family?'
I laughed and assured him,
'Of course...
Right from the start you are!'
His eyes brightened
and
blinking quickly to hold the tears,
he smiled.

We are all
unique individuals.
There's
no other
you.
We are all
different
yet
we are all
very similar.
We need
to
belong.
We want to
be
involved.
We want to
be
part of something.
We want to
be
welcomed.
We want to
be
liked.
We want to
be
remembered.
We want to
be
celebrated.
We want
to
make a difference.
We want to
be
cared for.
We want to
be
part of a
family.
Where can we
find these?
I have found mine.
Past seven years,
the weather of my life
had calm and wild times,
no day
was predictable
but there's one thing
I could
trust
and
always rely on -
a place I call
home
and
a group of people
I call
family.
They are always
there.
And this has made me
want to
always be there
for them
too.
Today's homelessness
is not
about having
no
roof over your head
but
no home
to
go home
to,
no people
to
draw support
from,
go through tough times
or
celebrate your victories
with.

'All these people....
they try so hard to influence me.
They are intelligent.
But I don't give a shit about
Chompsky.
All I want
is
a
hug.'
