[Fadi Arouri]
Can you still
believe
if
you
haven't gotten
what was
promised?
*
There's a people
who
died not yet having
in hand
what was promised,
but
still believing.
How do they do it?
They
look far.
And every time they do,
they
see
constantly new and burning bright scenes of
Future.
They know
and
own
Hope.
They know they're not there yet
but
getting nearer.
They
have reason
to live each day,
not mindlessly;
their
minds
brim
with
solid truths,
wondrous thoughts of
what's ahead.
Invigorating.
Their
hearts,
open and tender,
yet
strong as steel,
for they
understand
it isn't fantasy but
reality.
They do not require
a contract to be sure.
The words needn't
be black and white.
All's carved in their heart.
Nothing could touch or
erase it.
Their
tongues,
with their understand and thinking,
create words
powerful as these
humble and grateful,
'I remember,
your love has seen me through all my days.
I stand here
by your grace.'
honest and real
'Sometimes,
I'm afraid.
The things I will to do,
I do not do.
The things I hate,
I do.
I hurt
when I hurt you.'
broken and helplessly desperate
'Without you
I am finished.
I am weak
but
you are strong.
I don't know many things
but
you know all things.
I am foolish
but
teach me
and I will learn.
I am stiff-necked
but
please be patient with me
for I will never give up.
Nothing matters
when
you're here with me.'
wholly obedient and trusting
'Show me
the way.
One word,
I will follow.'
*
People who live this way
move forward,
their dreams don't stay as dreams.
They become
reality.
They don't get home-sick
of where and who
they used to be.
If they were,
they'd be looking behind.
And they could only
walk backwards.
Compare the speed of
walking forward
and backward.
Which is faster?
Which holds you back
from what you are believing for?
Are you walking
forward
or backward?
*
'But they were after
a far better country....
You can see why
he is so proud of them,
and has a
City waiting for them.'
