Lessons learnt in 2008
[Part 1]
*
Human beings are not designed to be
isolated;
if our wealth separates us from the community
and makes us selfish beings
who're too busy building our own homes in towers and villas,
we make gods of ourselves and
can look quite like fools.
Thinking about it,
Lasting success
is reserved for those who has the wisdom to
share their buffet of wealth
unlike
Fools who gorge themselves to bankruptcy.
But you don't have to
cohabit with a universe of people.
Solitude
is a daily essential
for every successful person.
*
Cherish good people
in your life
for they are rare,
especially in this generation.
Fun friends are easy to find.
Anybody can have fun with you.
But friends who love you enough to
cry with you when you're down
believe in the best of you
even though
they saw the ugly in you
genuinely celebrate and laugh with you
even when you
outshine them
protect you
even when it seems socially-safer
to agree with everything another friend says -
just for the momentary fun of doing it
think about you
even when they have happier happenings
to indulge in,
while you keep doing the disappearing act
are rare.
I don't care about their style and dressing,
how eloquent they are,
the kind of witty jokes they do
or the music they listen to.
When people are stripped of these accessories,
what's left
are their hearts.
I've learnt to identify, acknowledge,
receive and cherish
those whose hearts are truly good.
*
Unconditional love
can be incarnated.
You can experience it
through people -
tough to locate
but locatable
if you search diligently.
When you find one,
don't let the person go.
*
If you want to be a greater person,
you must go through stress
for nothing can expand
without pressure.
A challenge-free life
is as good as a block of ice -
useless in its own state.
The slightest exposure to heat
melts it easily;
how weak and pathetic.
*
Talented people are common.
Outstanding people who are committed to growth
and humble to acknowledge his weaknesses
and strengths,
not crying over what he can't give, but
always willing to give what he can give.
Extraordinaires never make excuses to give up;
they always find a reason to persist.
