Looking at the faces I see around me today,
I am reminded of what this means -
[Read and taste every word,
Chew on it,
Understand what it means to you]
''Because the foolishness of God
Is wiser than men,
And the weakness of God
Is stronger than men.
For you see your calling,
That not many
Wise according to the flesh,
Not many
Might,
Not many
Noble,
Are called.
But God has chosen
The foolish things of the world
To put to shame
The wise,
And God has chosen
The weak things of the world
To put to shame
The things which are mighty;
And the base things of the world
And the things which are despised
God has chosen,
And the things which are not,
To bring to nothing
The things that are.'
This is so true!
When I first read this,
I couldn't understand it.
It seemed illogical, completely nonsensical.
But then I realise,
We people can make ourselves nonsensical
When we complicate
The simplicity of God
And joy to live our lives in His purposes and will.
We are nobody
To say anyone is hopeless.
I have witnessed
How the despised and mocked
Are molded and shaped
Into powerful men and women.
Very few are charismatic personalities.
They love truth,
But they don't exhaust themselves
Reasoning everything about life.
They just live it,
Embrace their responsibilities today,
Avail their time, hands and feet,
They give
With no strings attached.
They even do all,
Counting the cost of their returns from it
Are ridiculous chores -
What can be more worthwhile
Than what He's already given them?
Only because they always remember
How grace has transformed them,
And they are amazed and honored
How God can use them.
They know their weaknesses,
But they never made them
Greater than Him.
'Cos they know it doesn't matter to Him -
Unless it matters more to them.
They never withdraw, no,
They press in,
And say,
'If you can use anything, you can use me.'
They're not concerned
Who is worse or better,
Competition is a vain rat-race.
They live not to please men.
They accept the praises of men,
But not build their esteem on fleeting words as these.
For they seek
Words that don't fall to the ground.
Everyday,
They marvel and thank
For the most beautiful gift
They have received.
And they'll never allow
Anything to steal them of it,
Nothing is worthy
To exchange it with.
