True Freedom
does not rest on
the crowns
of
arrogant, selfish and small-minded
self-made
prince and princesses.
True Freedom
belongs
to the crowns
of
humble, selfless and big-minded
prince and princesses.
These are the
true sons and daughters
of
Original Royalty.
*
Freedom
grows
when you
look out
for
others.
*
Freedom
decays
in
self-interest,
in
selfishness,
when you
look out
only for
yourself.
*
How do you
distinguish
a
person who
has
Freedom?
A very commercialized
image
we tend to identify
a free person
is
a man or woman
going wild
on the Harley Davidson bike
or
frolicking by the beach
with
absolutely
no responsibilities to mind.
Bottom-line:
'Getting my way
all the time.
It's all about
me.
Nothing
matters more
than
me.'
'Me'
or
'Meeeeee me meeee.'
could be the most
ear-grating, irritating, whiny
word
ever.
'Me'
never fits into
the true meaning of
Freedom.
How is this
logical?
See if this is
logic:
If your life is all about
'me',
there is only
one
person
in
your world -
you.
One world,
one human being.
Imagine.
That's
one
micro-world!
If you realize,
when we're in
selfish-mode,
we tend to think
tiny
thoughts!
Our
capacity
becomes
dangerously low.
When we only
care
enough for
'me',
we only
'mind our own business'
and
become
easily lethargic
when the business is about
others.
In giving,
we find it a
chore.
We
don't like to
give
or
share.
We are
only
interested
in
Receiving,
in
Taking.
We want things
only for
ourselves.
We say,
'What about me?'
'What can I get out of this?'
Our
creativity level
is at
dehydration stage.
We have only
a
fish tank of ideas
[sometimes, a cereal bowl
or
a few drops].
We would say many times,
'I don't know.'
'I can't.'
'No.'
With a
me-view,
we look at everything
from
acute angles -
what we are able to see
in our perspectives
are
narrow.
We would say many times,
'Cannot, cannot.'
Although
there are a world of possibilities
in a situation,
we develop a
blind-spot
that blocks us from
solving the problems
or
overcoming the challenges.
When we're
interested only in
'me',
our
thoughts,
imagination,
confidence,
speech
and
actions
revolve
only
around
one person -
how small
that circumference is,
how pathetic
we could reduce our lives
to be!
Self-awareness
is
one of the primary factors
of
maturity
but
excessive,
obsessive
self-awareness
that
cripples our ability
of
appreciating, caring and giving
to others
is
really
an emotional-cancer
that
destroys the joy,
the Freedom,
of living the life
we are
originally
given.
Excessive 'me'
sucks up
your life
into a vacuum
where
no one exists
except
an attention-hungry
but never satisfied individual.
If Freedom
is about
'me',
then Freedom
is seriously miserable -
downright
unimpressive!
*
Now,
let's check into the
world
of a
person who owns a lifestyle
of the
opposite:
In this world,
he isn't the only man.
If you could look into
his brain,
there are
many names of
people.
Through the day,
these names travel on an
energetic brain activity
that
produces
plans, solutions, surprises, appointments
around these people.
There's a lot of
Creative Thinking
happening
and
this creativity runs in his
mind like a dynamo -
the more people
in his head,
the more ideas
bubble over.
Ideas
are attracted to
people who
live in
big worlds.
This man has
big thoughts.
Big thoughts,
big man.
He
starts small
but
he thinks
big.
He has a
world-view.
His knowledge
is
not limited
to information about himself
but
others.
He
knows many things;
he
searches, discovers, pursues
all things
from a world-view.
His perspectives
are from an
elevated angle.
He sees
oceans of possibilities.
The
mountains of challenges
seem absolutely possible to scale.
If he can see the peak of the mountain,
he knows he can
conquer it.
In giving,
he
gives
freely.
If you
think big,
you focus on
what you have
instead of
what you don't have -
giving becomes
easy.
In social setting,
he
looks out
for
people.
He
has
compassion.
A truly free man,
is
free from
self-consciousness
and
paranoid loneliness.
He is free to
move around
and
step into other people's worlds.
He is
free to
express and give away
the love
he has received
through
smiling, encouraging and empowering
others.
He has a
big heart.
He usually says,
'What about him?'
'What about them?'
In problems,
he
doesn't run away!
He
proactively
approaches
people and situations
and
does what he can
to help.
He enjoys doing
new things.
When there sees
no opportunities,
he
creates them.
He habitually says,
'Let's do it!'
'It's possible.'
'Can do!'
'Will do!'
A truly free man,
is not limited;
he has
unlimited
possibilities
overflowing in his life.
His world is
huge,
and it has loads of surface area
to make space for
people.
This guy
is in the
rhythm of life -
there's
momentum
that's
unaffected
by occasional mood swings,
there's
an energy
that's
more than
his physical effort and strength,
there's
joy
in him.
This guy
who has
true freedom
is
truly living

Adores how you link freedom with not limiting the possibilities in life. Can't wait to see ya in 12 hours time! laughs
Hello val,
Love reading your blog!
But sometimes it's hard searching for a previous post that i want to re-read.
It would be great if you could organise your navigation links and name them, to make it easier to find! :) It's just a suggestion!
Looking forward to the next post! :)
Huahui and Yiwei,
sorry I just discovered your comments!
As you can see, Valerictorian's readers are largely undercover so I rarely check for comments.
Thanks for expressing your thoughts and I look forward for regular interaction with you and other readers.
I'd love to organise my past posts for better readability but have no idea how to! Any solutions to recommend? :)
