When you've tasted the best,
you'll never be happy settling for
anything lesser.
It doesn't take effort for
any living thing to weaken, decay and die away.
Weeds bombard gardens without the help of any gardener.
Breads left alone grow mouldy.
Human bodies stink in a day.
Thoughts spiral down in seconds.
Literally, everything visible and tangible
are just programmed to deteriorate
and ultimately expire.
How we hate this truth.
How we wrestle to live.
We see babies squealing their ways out onto Earth.
We see children run and rule the grounds.
We struggled through puberty,
sought for recognition, acceptance.
We always want to know how much we're worth.
We dream dreams.
We toil so hard to make them happen.
We'd do anything to achieve.
We'd sacrifice and compromise.
We'd build our lives.
Who's tower is taller?
Who's castle is grander?
We compete.
We envy.
We work harder, we want to supercede.
We continue building our lives.
We see our neighbours walls crash overnight.
How thousands fall with no caution at all.
And we look up in the sky.
Fearing the darts that fly by day.
The terror that comes by night.
We want to build to last,
not build to perish.
But we don't know what tomorrow brings.
We can't find rest even in our sleep.
Isn't it so true,
that unless
he builds our lives
we build in vain.
