I'm Back.

Yes, I'm back from the 'glorious' Guangzhou!

Besides the shopping, I didn't think anything was 'glorious'
at all.

Five days in Guangzhou made me a
prouder Singaporean.
We've got such clean air,
luscious greenery,
and well-mannered citizens!

I've so much to share about my trip -
I wasn't diligent enough to capture as many pictures as I could.
I hope these I took's good:

We had all our meals at restaurants because
it only costs 7 - 15 bucks per person for a spread.

I've never eaten Chinese vegetables as marvelous as
those in Guangzhou. 'cept that some is awfully greasy.

This is the worst dish I've seen during the trip -
Herbal Black Chicken.
This picture's the closest I can get;
it was tormenting to wrestle with my disgust
over the chicken head cos I had to
pretend everything's okay with my aunt's friends around.

I so wanted to dump that dish in the bin!

It was a pleasant surprise to realise yogurt's
one of the staple foods there.
I thought I had to scrap sticking to my daily yogurt diet.
Oh, I dig yogurt so much!

I'd love to experiment these drinks
if I had the time to.
The Chinese has got a great appetite for variety.

Their effort to be hygienic.

I don't know why but it breaks my heart
whenever I see how these people toil under the sun
to earn only a few bucks a day.

I look forward to do something for
these people as soon as possible.

Pu'er tea, most comparable with the finest dim sum.

Zhuangyuan Fang/The Scholar's Sqaure.
One of the hottest shopping street I've visited,
it is the Siam Sqaure [Bangkok] of GZ.
I wish I had more time to comb through every shop.
Definitely going there again!

A few outfits from there:

Beijing Lu/Beijing Road
The crowds here are enormous.
My shopping bags almost got stolen;
thank God this rag-picker-granny yelled the thief away.

Cliffort Tower - the condo I've been living past five days.

Check out the balcony view -
it's a forest!

The neighbour's Chihuahua -
it doesn't bark at all.
What a baby.

Shaky hands and the pretty neon lights at night.

Okay, we've come to the
very un-Valerictorian part of this post.
Every since Lizzie introduced Engrish.com to me,
I never fail to have a stomaching-giggle-guffaw-scream-of a time!

My GZ trip has brought me
up close and personal with these hilarious direct translations.

Brace yourself:

'please vertically put out'

'signboards bombing xianyou'

'haoshi soybeans expense fin skirt'

'jiang qian yuan fishing for sand eels liu shuan'
[giggle]

'east fight acid jiang hai stung goat head'

'shujun burning the oyster'

'the intestinal bamboo shelter'

'baoshi shrimp plastic flower seeds naringin'
Plastic!

This got me so high -
'Of course speculation jade belt'
I was laughing so hard I could black out.

'rugby cairu broken beans'
I thought of Phua and Darius when I saw this.
I wonder how they'd react if they see it!

Going back to unpack my luggage.
I'm so glad I'm home...
