I watched ''What Happnes in Vegas'' with Aunt Zoe today.
A line in the movie still echoes in my head -
''You're so radiant. It's not like you were never. Some of us never realise what we have until we lose it.''
Light and Darkness.
Warmth and Coldness.
Good and Evil.
Right and Wrong.
The distances between these are winding roads,
Intense and dangerous, but so necessary.
We'll never understand its differences
Until we've tasted them.
'A fool has no delight in understanding, But in expressing his own heart.'
I've read this proverb plenty of times.
Tonight, an ache somewhere within me seeks healing
In this truth about how loved ones can become strangers,
By the power of human folly.
''A man who isolates himself seeks His own desire. He rages against all wise judgements.''
Besides food and the weather,
I loathe the coldness that pride creates in a person.
It begins with a seed in the mind.
Then it becomes a doubt.
Unspoken,
Fog shrouds around it.
Undealt with,
It writhes and thrives into an explosion of cynicism, self-righteousness
And ingratitude.
Family becomes foe.
Brothers and sisters become opponents.
Father and Mother become robbers of one's time and all things good.
Nobody's good anymore.
It becomes uncomfortable being around them.
Conversations with any are best avoided.
Her own belief becomes more important than any relationship built over the years.
All the good times are erased from her memory.
She praises those who were never there for her
And forgets those who have always loved her.
Now, their giving becomes a robbery of her time, her life.
She is on the throne.
Looking back,
She criticises and regrets whom she chose to give her time to,
And what she used to say were her dreams.
Today,
She thinks she has finally lived the life she wanted.
But why,
Is she still unhappy?
*
It is only because,
She never understood she was a daughter.
She never believed in her Father's love for her.
She thought her value in Him were her achievements.
How hard she worked to be number one,
Until she burns herself out,
And trashed all.
It's never about anybody.
It's just about ourselves.
''There is nothing that enters a man from outside
Which can defile him;
But the things which
Come out of him,
Those are the things that defile a man.''
