I'm really dead beat
But I just have to write to you how awesome the
Leaders' Appreciation Dinner was.
It wasn't about the feast.
It was the company,
And most of all,
A feast for my brain and heart.
Dr. AR Bernard popped by before he flew home.
He spoke about the scenario after the Last Supper
When He washed the feet of the Twelve.
The golden question he gave was,
'Was He leading to serve, or
Was He serving to lead?'
His definition of being the 'greatest of all' is rather bizzare,
The greatest of all is a servant to all?
As leaders in the KOG,
What is our Identity?
Is it Servant or Leader?
What is our Purpose?
Is it to Serve or to Lead?
In link with this,
Abraham Lincoln said it well.
'Every man can withstand adversity.
But to measure the character of a man,
Give him Power.'
He's saying that not every person
Can hold himself well
When he has the Position,
The Privilege,
The Power.
It's a horrifying effect,
To give power to someone who can't handle power.
Cos in Human Society,
We see people in power compromise their character,
For glory and self-gain.
Who manipulate instead of lead.
Who gets but doesn't give.
Who are too proud to connect to the people 'below'.
You know what,
The answer to Dr. Bernard's question
Is
Our Beloved was showing us
Our identity is a
Servant.
And what we do is to
Lead.
A Servant-heart
Who is willing and passionate to do whatever he's asked to do.
And because of that,
He is diligent with the littlest responsibilities,
And trustworthy for greater jobs.
And when we can understand this,
When we are given the opportunity to lead,
There's nothing we'll consider beneath us to do.
Nothing is too menial for us to carry out.
We can sweep the floor.
We can usher.
We can clear the rubbish.
We can make time to encourage someone who's down.
We will not complain or grumble.
Inconvenience and sacrifice become nothing!
Because we understand
Our identity is a Servant,
Who's given the Opportunity to Lead.
On the other hand,
If we see ourselves as
Leaders who are called to Serve,
Then we will choose
Who we want to serve,
What we want to serve in.
We'll consider certain matters beyond our value, unworthy of our service.
You know why is this so critical?
It's because we represent a Very Important Person
Who cannot be misrepresented
Or it'll affect lives, eternally.
No wonder it isn't your talent or connections
But your Attitude
That promotes you.
This is not an Understanding important for a certain few.
But All.
Cos All is asked to be His representative.

I suggest you read from the top once or twice more.
Chew on it.
Digest it.
Stick it in your heart.
'Cos your life,
Your attitude
And the way you live,
Will never be the same again.
