Miss Sunshines.

I had the company of Tinkerbells to spend Thursday afternoon with.

We basked under the soft sunshine
and indulged in everything sweet and dainty.

De-Isolation.

Have you ever met someone
who's able to brighten
your present outlook of today and the future,

just by his or her presence,
a short conversation,

by the way
he or she looks at you?

People like them
are hard to find.

I met one today.

I realise such people
are hardly flamboyant in their gestures.

They are sure and confident,
yet not over-bearing or
threatening.

They hardly talk about themselves,
unless asked.

Their words are few,
because their attention on you
goes beyond the surface,

it seems like their eyes
have a way of
looking into the core of your heart.

They love to listen.
They don't rush in,
they press in.

Their questions and answers
are gilded with wisdom
that unfailingly
leads you to a revelation
and sometimes,
an epiphany.

I left this person
feeling like a happier woman.
The air seemed fresher around me.
I could smile at a passer-by
and hold the door a little longer
for a stranger.

I thought to myself,
how I'd want to be a better person.

I wondered and realized,
such people,

they sow into others lives
even when no one's looking,

they take time to think for others.

Though you hardly spend time with them,
but when you get to,
you strangely feel known and loved by them.

Have you met people like that?
Who are they?

They are a rarity.

Cherish them,

and soon you grow
and become like them.

Only One Omnipotent.

Sometimes,
you need to get out of the way

because you help yourself too much.

This generation celebrates Independence.

Carol calls it the
'self-help' generation.

We want to be in control so much,
it's tough to bow our independence,
in other words,
pride,

to depend on the
truly
Greatest person.

People brand their life motto,
'I like to outdo myself'

Then doesn't that mean
to bow;

to go beyond your ability
and depending on someone/something
besides yourself?

What do you lean on?
Who's your backup?

Let me choose someone
one who's
Omnipotent.

A fool says there's none,
or he's one himself.

Surely,
there's only one -

who's not weak but strong
not unpredictable but constant
not clueless but omniscient,

no,
not
like us.

Twelve + One.

I didn't plan to spend Deepavali like this.

Mum brought me to Rochestor Park's latest cafe addition,
Twelve + One,
with her friend, Aunt Janice
for some tea and French pastries.

Food photographs are unusual in Valerictorian
but I thought you might want to let
your eyes feast on these colourful delectables -

Doesn't Aunt Janice remind you of
Anna Wintour [editor of US Vogue magazine]?

I never really enjoyed speaking to family-friends
but I must say
I enjoyed chatting with Aunt Janice about her stay in
Switzerland, Italy, Spain and Paris.

The rest of the day was spent with
a bunch of beautiful people
but shame I didn't get any pictures taken.

I can feel my life swinging to a
different momentum

It's tempting to get ahead of time
but I got to remember
treading on times that don't belong to me

only distracts me
from
opening the present of
Now

to enjoy
and learn what is true contentment.
